47. Subject pronouns:
I, we, you, he, she, it, they. Subject must be expressed with subject pronouns.
Wrong: John and her are going to marry.
Right: John and she are going to marry.
48. Subject pronouns in complement position.
It + BE + pronoun(subject)
It is he who has begun competition. [ Not him']
It was she who suggested the solution. [ Not 'her']
This is he speaking. [Not 'him']
Don't use: object pronoun after a form of BE.
49. Object pronouns are used as the complement of a sentence or a clause.
Object pronouns: me,us,him, her,them. 'You' or 'it' is used either as a subject or an object pronoun.
S + V +pronoun(object)
They blamed us. [Not 'we']
They asked him. [Not 'he']
Let us read this book. [ Not 'we']
Let you and me read this book. [ Not 'I']
Don't use: subject pronoun in the complement.
50. Object pronouns are used after prepositions: or a clause.
preposition +pronoun(object)
They tell to him. [Not 'he']
A message for me is delivered. [Not 'I']
S + V +pronoun(object)
They asked him. [Not 'he']
They blamed us. [Not 'we']
Let us read this book. [ Not 'we']
Let you and me read this book. [ Not 'I']
Don't use: subject pronoun after a preposition.
